Being selected as the Woman of the Year is not something to take lightly. We are talking about a community with many deserving people, but this year with it being our first time doing this it had to be someone of strength, courage, and influence. Sylvia May is all of those things.
If you know Sylvia you know she has been battling Cancer for years and the only reason she is still here with us is that she is a fighter. Her strength is immeasurable. When you spend time with her you leave happy, because she won't allow you to dampen her spirits because she has a clear understanding of what living life is.
She has the courage to continue to fight when she is weak. Sometimes she spends the entire week going to doctors appointments and no one will know until afterward, because she doesn't want people to worry about her more than they already do.
She has the influence to make others stronger through her struggles.
She has raised her kids and she married into more kids and she loves them all the same. So on this Mother's Day, we salute Sylvia May for all of the things she is.She will be honored as Woman of the Year on May 27th at an all-white affair at the Pickwick Gardens, 1001 West Riverside Drive, Burbank, California 91506.
