Everyone knows Bryce Hamilton is Pasadena High School's leader in basketball, but he didn't have his best game last night in a 48-46 CIF semifinal victory against the Rancho Verde High School Mustangs, but it's a team sport and he has some really good teammates.
Senior Omari Moore quietly had a monster game with a game-high 14 points, 11 rebounds, 5 blocks, 2 steals and an assist. He stepped his game up at the right time because PHS was down after the first quarter by 8 and 5 at halftime. When the Bulldogs came out of the locker room after halftime, they were a different team and Omari was their leader. The Dogs outscored the Mustangs 18-10 in the third and held on to win by 2. Hamilton had 11 points and Darius Brown added 10 more.
It was an ugly game and not the typical effort from PHS, but they got the victory and showed some resiliency under pressure.
The Bulldogs will play Chino Hills, who beat Long Beach Poly. The finals game will be played March 2-3, but the site has yet to be determined.
