She also was a very loving Mother and a dedicated Grandmother. I remember “Big Mama” actively being apart of the Pasadena CowGirls as a Team Grandma. You could always catch her representing the CowGirls wearing Red and White. Transporting everyone in her brown van even Snoop Dogg featured her van. In his What’s My Name video in Long Beach.

Big Mama always was at the Black History Parade just as I saw her last February. Thank you Big Mama for all you’ve done. Being the center of the village so many needed in the Kings Manors giving that good ole’ love.

We will always hold you near our hearts may you Rest In Peace. Now you may cross the traffic in Heaven.

When I think about Jean “Big Mama” Wooden I think about Northwest Pasadena and her beautiful smile. She was a Pillar of our community, wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, friend and also know as the Grandmother of The City of Roses.

I personally will never forget her love for the entire community. Her home was a safe place for many and she’d never turn you down.
I admired the way she loved God and “Big Daddy”.  Especially when they would come to church on Sundays. They would sit in the same spot every time.

Big Mama played a huge role in my cousin Crystal Jackson’s life as her God Mother until Crystal's passing.
