"Atonement (5th stage) means satisfaction or reparation for a wrong or injury. It means to make amends; it means penitence, expiation, compensation and recompense made or done for an injury or wrong. Atonement means we must be willing to do something in expiation of our sins. We can’t just have a good time today and say we’ve made history in Washington; we have to resolve today that we’re going back home to do something about what’s going on in our lives and in our families and in our communities."

Fight for Life: Face Your Sins

We are now at the fifth part of the atoning process which is atonement itself. As we go through each stage of the atoning process we are lifting off each ounce of the burden for our wrong done.

The black man and woman by nature are a righteous people therefore when we go astray it begins to weigh on us because we are going against our nature. The processes which focus on our wellness takes deliberate actions and this cannot be done by accident, we must consciously protect our well being.

Atonement must be made, starting with self and then moving on the our families because love and charity should start at home. After we atone with our love ones and self we should then proceed to our friends and community near and far. Forgiveness which is the next stage can not be given with the first five stages of this process. We can say I forgive that person for what they did to me however the power of it will not be the same as going to that person face to face and deal with what took place. It is one thing to say oh I forgive so and so and that person in unaware of your forgiveness therefore it can not be received. How can one receive something if they are unaware that it is being given to them?

The key to atonement is acknowledgment. Without that a true healing can not take place. There are some of us that have not forgiven those that have wronged us and are literally reliving the situation daily. We can identify these people because when they share what they went through they speak with the same amount of energy as if it happened the night before, but when we ask them WHEN did this happen they'll say about two, three, or five years ago maybe longer. There are some women who never move on to another man because of the pain she received from her last man and the fact that whatever happened never got addressed holds that woman hostage. Some may even have it in their mind that person will be back to correct what they did especially if they have had that type of relationship where they break-up for awhile then make-up and repeat.

Let us FACE OUR SINS AND GET AWAY FROM THIS JESUS DIED FOR ALL OF OUR SINS MENTALITY this is primarily why we do not want to face our sins because we can use a lie to falsely heal or wounds. This is the same as putting a rubber band on a gunshot wound and expecting it to stop hurting. Let us STAND UP and demand our peace and wellness.

More next issue God willing.
