Dear Jackie Pollard,
Thank you so much for following your heart. Thank you for giving your all and leaping out on faith. To create JP's Beauty Supply. The first Black Owned Beauty Supply store in Pasadena in nearly 20 years. It's been a long journey but you did it because you believed in yourself. That along speaks volumes about your character and love for the community.
You have set an establishment in Northwest Pasadena. That will help us recycle multiple Black dollars. No longer do we have to spend our dollars on beauty supplies frequenting businesses that don't respect us because of the color of or skin. What a relief it'll be to walk inside of JP's without having to ring a bell to get in a locked door. On top of ringing the bell getting profiled before entering the store. Once your in your under heavy surveillance, unable to touch or picture merchandise, rushed in and out and talked to like you have a tail.
I think I can speak for the whole community when I say you have stepped up and rescued us. We now have a place to call our own no longer will others sell our products and continue to disrespect our culture.
Dear Jackie, you are a Trailblazer one who blazes a trail and guides others along the way. I admire you for stepping up and creating this much needed change.
Now it's time that we step up and support you. Here's my pledge and I hope to see every hairstylist & black hair product consumer to do just the same.
I will demand that all my clients come to you before sitting in my chair. I also want start a citywide boycott against every other Beauty Supply in Pasadena. This should be an easy task especially if the consumers knew exactly how Asian Beauty Supply owners really felt about us.
Did you know that the owners of all three Asian beauty supply companies went before the City of Pasadena to intercept JP's Beauty Supply? They stuck together to try to destroy her before she even started. Now it's time for us to stick together and shut them down once and for all.
We're creating generational wealth for them but yet we are somehow still struggling. These people don't even live in Pasadena. They don't care about us. They just come to collect but their not willing to put anything back into the community.
It's extremely hard to be a Black Owned Beauty Supply. They don't offer us the same prices on products as they do the Asians. So with that being said if you have to spend an extra dollar with JP's please do so. If there is something that you'd like to see in the store let her know. Jackie and her staff are there for us and to supply our needs.
This is a partnership we are in this together.
